Acne! Don't Worry

You wake up in the morning, look at the mirror and..simply scream!!! There is a pimple on your nose the size of a Ping-Pong ball. Paint it red and lo and behold-� you have Rudolph. What happened??

The skin has pores. Under the skin there are oil glands, which secrete oil called sebum through the pores. Dust and dirt are attracted to the sebum, so it settles and becomes solid and remains on the opening of the pore. The dirt and sebum irritate the surrounding skin and causes the formation of a pimple. Sometimes pimples are caused due to hormonal changes, heredity, constipation and dandruff.

YOUR CHECKLIST FOR HEALTHY SKIN:
  1. Avoid salty foods, which can exacerbate acne.
  2. Limit intake of chips, fries, processed foods and fizzy drinks.
  3. Eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits.
  4. Drink at least 8-ounce glasses of water every day.
  5. Exercise vigorously enough daily to break into a sweat.(This helps excrete toxins from the skin and boosts circulation)
  6. If you use make-up, use only water-based preparations and avoid greasy and oil based cosmetics.
  7. Clean skin gently with mild soap or cleanser, no ore than three times a day. Avoid long showers, which dry out the skin and strip away natural oils.

ACNE FIGHTERS:

Vitamin A (betacarotine) this helps your immune system function at its peak and can prevent acne or reduce its severity. Instead of taking vitamin A, which can be toxic in high doses, take beta-carotene, which is converted to vitamin A in the body. Take 25,000 IU everyday.
Vitamin C strengthens the immune system to help ward off skin infections and is essential for formation of collagen. Take two 500mg. capsules of calcium ascorbate daily.
Vitamin E also effective immune stimulator. Take 200-400 IUs everyday for immune boost.
Selenium also helps ward off infections. Take 100-200 mcg daily.
Zinc is another immunity enhancing mineral that fights infections. Take 15 mg daily. For sever cases of acne, try taking two tablets after meals for one month. This is very good. You will notice a vast difference.
Acidophilus is a "good" bacteria found in yogurt and available in liquid and tablets, fights both acne and yeast infections. Take a teaspoon of liquid or capsules as directed on pack, half hour before eating.
Evening primrose oil is high in gamma-linoleic acid. This is a natural anti-inflammatory and reduces skin eruptions. Take 1-3 500mg capsules daily.
Grapeseed extract is rich in bioflavonoids, which speeds tissue healing and collagen growth. Take upto three 100mg capsules daily.
Bee pollen contains a rich concentration of nucleic acids that penetrate the skin surface and help heal underlying tissue. Apply directly to pimples three times a day. These capsules are found at any chemists.
Vitex (for women) also called "chaste tree fruit". This herb is full of particular help to women who develop acne each month prior to their menses. It helps smooth out hormonal fluctuations and reduces acne. Take as directed on pack.
